New video shows Russian fighter jets harassing American drones over Syria, US Air Force says
U.S. Air Forces Central released new video appearing to show Russian fighter jets harassing American drones over Syria on July 5. Information about where the incidents took place were not provided. The United States military released new aerial footage on Wednesday that showed Russian fighter jets flying dangerously close to several U.S. drones over Syria. U.S. Air Forces Central said the video of the incident shows Russian SU-35 fighters moving into the drone's flight path and setting off so-called parachute flares and forcing the MQ-9 Reapers to take evasive maneuvers. Lt. Gen. Alex Grynkewich, commander of 9th Air Force in the Middle East, said three of the U.S. drones were operating over Syria, conducting a mission on the Islamic State terror group, when the Russian aircraft "began harassing the drones" after 10:30 a.m. "Russian military aircraft engaged in unsafe and unprofessional behavior while interacting with U.S. aircraft in Syria," he said, describing the actions as threatening to the safety of the U.S. and Russian forces.
How Does Intel Make Chips? A New Video Shows You. Intel Newsroom
These "chips" let you game on your PC, navigate a car or improve your daily life with artificial intelligence algorithms. They're the most complex devices manufactured. And it takes the world's most advanced manufacturing technologies and the expertise of thousands of engineers, technicians and architects to create them. A new animated video, "How Intel Makes Chips: Concept to Customer," offers a simple overview of the manufacturing process โ from design engineering through mask operations and assembly and testing โ to create these tiny but fiendishly complex devices.
The terrifying moment a robot dog pulls a 3-ton AIRPLANE with ease across more than 30 feet
Robot dogs have come along way from the days of being tipped over by humans. A surprising new video shows off just how advanced the four-legged droids have become, as a'HyQReal' robo-dog can be seen dragging an airplane that weighs a whopping 3 tons across the Geneva Airport in Italy. HyQReal was created by researchers at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) as a device designed to support humans in emergency situations. Luckily, as the video shows, the robot dog would almost certainly be capable of lifting a heavy human. The robot dog drags the heavy airplane with apparent ease across approximately 33 feet before a researcher with a game controller makes it stop. It's an amazing feat, considering the HyQReal weighs just over 280lbs and is roughly 4ft long.
New Video Shows a Creepily Human-Like Robot Doing a Backflip
A new video shows a robot performing amazing acrobatic feats, from backflips to half-turn jumps. The eerily humanoid robot, called Atlas, is 4.9 feet (1.5 meters) tall and weighs 165 pounds (75 kilograms), and uses Lidar and stereovision to navigate in its surroundings, according to Boston Dynamics, which makes the robot. Atlas is designed to be able to take on emergency situations where human life would normally be put at risk, such as going into buildings that have crumbled after an earthquake, or dealing with patients who have deadly, highly infectious diseases, according to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). In the video, the newest version of the humanoid does a kind of jump training called plyometrics, leaping between raised platforms, doing a 180-degree turn in the air on raised platforms and performing a backflip off a platform. Though he may not give American gymnast Simone Biles a run for her money right now, the robot does manage to stick the landing.
Watch the massive machine that can cram a mattress into a box (and the amazing moment it it released)
Gone are the days when tossing a mattress in the back of a truck was the only way to get it home from the store. The booming'boxed bed' business has taken over the mattress industry, allowing consumers to purchase their bedding online and have it shipped to their doorstep compressed inside of a box. And a new video shows the monstrous Auto-Pac 1390HCA system using a 60-ton hydraulic press and highly consistent rolling to neatly fold your mattress to be bagged and sealed for delivery. A new video shows the monstrous Auto-Pac 1390HCA system using a 60-ton hydraulic press and highly consistent rolling to neatly fold a mattress to be bagged and sealed for delivery. The first step of preparing a mattress for shipping is to cover it in a protective plastic wrap.
